The charismatic Eisenstein is set to serve his jail sentence, while his wife Rosalinde plans to spend the evening at home, and their maid Adele has a visit to a sick aunt. However, all three decide to attend Count Orlofsky’s masked ball in disguise.Famous for the beloved “The Blue Danube” waltz, *Fledermaus* is Johann Strauss’ most renowned opera. Celebrated for its memorable melodies, lively rhythms, and delightful Viennese charm, the storyline is filled with amusing twists, identity disguises, betrayals, and an abundance of champagne.
This production of *Fledermaus* features exceptional Irish vocal performances, with sopranos Jade Phoenix and Sarah Shine portraying Rosalinde and Adele, and mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty taking on the role of Prince Orlofsky. American tenor Alex McKissick plays Eisenstein, while baritone Ben McAteer (from *Don Pasquale* 2023) takes on the character of Dr. Falke. The ensemble cast includes soprano Megan O’Neill and tenors Aaron O’Hare and William Pearson. The production is conducted by Richard Peirson and directed by Davey Kelleher, with scenic design by Paul O’Mahony, costumes created by Catherine Fay, and lighting design by Sinead McKenna.
