Purchased by the White family in 1730, Bantry House was later expanded by Richard White, the second Earl of Bantry. The estate boasts an impressive collection of tapestries, furniture, and art, much of which the Earl acquired during his European travels in the 1800s.
The gardens feature a diverse range of sub-tropical plants and shrubs, showcasing exquisite European design and landscaping. Among the 45-acre estate’s highlights are the Hundred Steps, the Italian Garden, and Ireland’s largest Wisteria circle. The House and Gardens are accessible to the public, along with an exhibition center located in the east Stableyard, which details the history of the attempted French invasion of 1796.
